Today is World Hypoparathyroidism Awareness Day. Here at HypoPara Support & Advocacy Inc, we want to raise our voices so that our community is heard! Throughout the day we will post 5 different ways you can take action today to raise awareness about our community.

Tip #1:

Share your story! Remember awareness is about visibility. Publically share your hypoparathyroidism story and remind your family and friends why we need them to engage with us to raise awareness about our rare disease.

Tip #2:

Take a moment to find your local representative and give them a call or send them an email. Urge them to consider rare diseases as part of their platform.

Here’s a handy tool that can help you locate your representative

Tip #3:

Write a brief editorial for your local newspaper. Many newspapers post opinion pieces. Share your story with them explaining the importance of visibility for rare diseases. If you get published, don’t forget to share it with us!

Tip #4:

This one is for our family, friends, and caregivers.

Don’t forget that hypoparathyroidism can be really challenging to live with. We know it’s hard on you too. Share YOUR story and help others know how hypoparathyroidism impacts more than the people who have been diagnosed.

Tip #5:

Don’t stop today. Awareness about our rare disease isn’t about one day of the year. We must raise awareness every single day.

Whether you are someone who has been diagnosed with hypoparathyroidism or you are a support person or medical ally, we need you to help amplify our voice.

Join us today and you’ll soon hear more about what we are planning to amplify our voice.
